Abi's Recap from USA Cycling 2015 Mountain Bike Nationals
As the High School seasons starts to kick off, we wanted to reflect on the summer mountain bike season. This summer we were so proud of all our athletes. All of our girls overcame fears, pushed their limits and learned so much about themselves. Abi Elizalde qualified for a USA Cycling Mountain Bike Nationals sport early in the year and had an experience she will always remember.
Below are a few questions she answered about her experience:
- Have you ever been to Mammoth?
- Nope, I had never been to Mammoth but it was a wonderful experience going!
- Who was there to support you?
- My parents weren’t able to make it, but I did go with some of the other Street Swell riders. Specifically Michael Barret and his mom, Jacqui, were a huge help during the trip. They were both really lovely & friendly just like all the other parents who give me all their support.
- What was the race course like?
- The race course was really hard with steep uphills & a difficult but fun downhill.
- How many girls in your category?
- There was about 27 or 28 girls riding in my category.
- How did you do?
- I didn’t do that well but I gave it my best in the course.
- What did you learn?
- I learned you need to believe in yourself in order for others to believe in you. There are lots of people out there who have faith & believes in you. And of course, hard work always pay off!
- What was your favorite moment?
- One of my favorite moment was when we all went to take a picture with a mammoth the last afternoon of our trip.
