The Cycle Effect Awarded 2018 Summit Foundation Grant for Summit County Girls Mountain Bike Program

Summit County, CO - The Summit Foundation, in collaboration with Vail Resorts EpicPromise, announced in June of 2018 The Cycle Effect’s Summit County Girls Mountain Bike Program as a recipient of a local $15,000 grant.The Summit Foundation, with the vision of “Bringing people together to create ever-better mountain communities,” and supported by Vail Resorts EpicPromise, works to “provide leadership and resources to assist local working families, resolve critical community issues and preserve the quality of life we all enjoy in our beautiful mountains.” The Cycle Effect is celebrating its fifth anniversary as an organization and in its fourth year serving Summit County youth. Altogether, The Cycle Effect serves over 125 girls annually, with over 40 girls served locally between two teams in Summit County. The Summit North team is primarily based out of Silverthorne and Dillon while the Summit South team meets near Breckenridge and Frisco.The Cycle Effect in Summit County responded to participant’s families requests to create the easiest and most convenient practice locations and times. This aligns with The Summit Foundation’s vision to provide resources to assist working families in the county. With practice times and locations, girls are able to walk or ride public transportation to immediately after school, parents are able to remain at work.“It is really important for youth to feel like they are a part of something and to know that they have the support to succeed,” says Jeanne Bistranin, Executive Director of The Summit Foundation. “The Cycle Effect successfully combines mountain biking with individual mentoring and encouragement, creating an atmosphere where these young women and girls know that they can succeed---in mountain biking and in life,” Bistranin explains. “We appreciate the work of The Cycle Effect and the fact that they provide this opportunity and excellent programming for local young women.”   Through partnerships with SOS Outreach, Family Intercultural Resource Center, and Keystone Science School, along with many others, The Cycle Effect has been able to work with more young women than ever before. We continue to introduce mountain biking to young riders and creating a great pipeline into our Girls Mountain Biking Program.Brett Donelson, The Executive Director of The Cycle Effect notes, “We are continually honored to receive support from the The Summit Foundation.
