Empowering Young Women Through Mountain Biking: The Cycle Effect Expands to Garfield County
Mountain biking is more than just a sport—it’s a powerful tool for personal growth, confidence and community building. At The Cycle Effect, we believe every girl deserves the chance to experience the joy of biking, the thrill of the trails and the support of a strong mentorship network. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our latest expansion: a pilot program in New Castle, Colorado!
Breaking Barriers, Building Futures
With a mission to provide equitable access to mountain biking, The Cycle Effect invites girls and young women from all backgrounds to join our six-day introductory program—completely free of charge in 2025, thanks to generous underwriting from our donors. No experience? No problem! We provide all the necessary gear, including bikes, so participants can focus on having fun, gaining new skills, and building lasting friendships.
As Program Director Molly Gamble puts it, “We’re overjoyed to offer a pilot program to Garfield County. We hope to provide opportunities for girls in the New Castle community who need a safe place to challenge themselves, create lasting friendships, and have fun on mountain bikes. Please join us!”
More Than Just Riding
Our programs go beyond biking. Every session includes not only expert coaching in fundamental mountain biking skills but also a mentorship curriculum designed to foster confidence, healthy habits, and leadership skills. Through supportive coaching and community engagement, we help young riders embrace their full potential.
“We’ve seen our young riders in Eagle, Summit, Mesa, and Routt counties build confidence, embrace their potential, and find belonging in their communities,” says Gamble. “We want to expand this impact so more girls can experience the incredible transformation that occurs when we combine equitable access to trails, supportive coaching, and intentional mentorship with mountain biking.”
