Beginning as a Cycle Effect athlete in 2014, Luna came back as a coach in 2019 and most  recently worked part-time as the Summit County Team Coordinator. Luna is a Summit County local with strong roots in the community and is well rounded in the nonprofit world. Before joining The Cycle Effect full-time, she worked for over six years at the Summit Community Care Clinic where she wore many hats from patient navigator to dental biller. Luna was deeply passionate about the mission and the patient-centered care provided by SCCC. Luna is excited to embark on a new mission with The Cycle Effect, one she holds near and dear.

Luna has experienced how impactful team sports and community can be on an individual having been a participant of The Cycle Effect herself,

“The Cycle Effect continues to be a place of growth for me both on and off the bike as I continue learning from the athletes and coaches.”

Throughout the years The Cycle Effect has continued to serve the BIPOC community which is so important to Luna,

“My hope is that by creating more accessibility to the outdoors it will create a ripple effect with individuals’ families and culture.”

Brett Donelson, Executive Director of The Cycle Effect, adds,

“We are thrilled to have Isidra join our full time staff to continue to elevate our Summit County program. When Isi joined the program as an athlete over eight years ago it was clear that she embodied everything we were looking for. She has continued to grow and we are so happy to have her work with us. I can not wait to see what impact she will have on the community.”

Now serving 315 girls throughout four counties (Eagle, Mesa, Routt, and Summit), The Cycle Effect empowers young women through mountain biking to create brighter futures and become leaders within their communities and beyond.

The Cycle Effect believes in the transformational powers of belonging and self-fulfillment. The Cycle Effect is a Colorado-based program that mentors through mountain biking. The Cycle Effect serves adventurous 10-18 year old girls who may not have the opportunity to participate in the sport. The Cycle Effects’ flexible curriculum provides participants with bikes, equipment, and a diverse coaching staff for little cost.

About The Cycle Effect

The Cycle Effect focuses on three primary goal areas: physical wellness, community impact and mentorship, and building brighter futures. By providing an opportunity for girls to be engaged in regular, healthy programs that help build their self-esteem and promote overall wellness, girls are more likely to be healthier, stay engaged in school, and set goals that will support their future.

The Cycle Effect helps instill a higher level of self-confidence, perseverance, grit and determination, and a sense of belonging by participating in a team and building relationships with individual coach mentors and teammates.

The Cycle Effect works to provide young women equal opportunity and access to the sport of mountain biking. We aim to serve 70% of participants who identify as Latinx and/or Black, Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) and work to remove financial barriers while supporting social-emotional well-being for our participants. By centering our values of equity, compassion, belonging, thriving, fun, and courage, we are committed to creating an organization that allows female-identifying and non-binary participants the opportunity to create brighter futures and build stronger communities.
